Gathering Materials
Before you start this quest it is a good idea to get all of the items you require:
A Bronze Medium Helmet can be obtained through the Smithing Skill by smithing 1 bronze bar with a smithing level of 3. There is a respawn in the east room on the ground floor of Draynor Manor. You can also buy these from Peska in the Barbarian Village for the price of 24 coins, or from the Grand Exchange.
An Iron Chainbody can be made from three Iron Bars at level 26 smithing. You can also buy one from Wayne inFalador for the price of 210 coins, or from the Grand Exchange.
A Cabbage can be picked from any Cabbage field, or grown at level 7 Farming (Members-only). Some freeplay Cabbage fields include:
North of Rimmington: | South of Falador: |
---|---|
North of Lumbridge: | North of the Monastery: |
However, it is absolutely imperative that you do not pick a Cabbage from the Draynor Manor cabbage patch!
Getting Started
To start the quest, talk to Sir Amik Varze on the second floor of the White Knights' Castle in Falador.
Sir Amik is located in the west wing of the castle, near the stairs.
Sir Amik Varze will send you to check on the Black Knights' Fortress and find out what their sinister plans may be. He also gives you a Dossier of information on the mission.
Before you head out, it is advised to bring some food, as well as some armour and a weapon to defend against the Black Knights. You will also need a Bronze Med Helm and an Iron Chainbody to enter the fortress. Additionally, you will need a Cabbage, obtained from anywhere except Draynor Manor.
The Black Knights' Fortress is located west of Edgeville, and north of Ice Mountain. The following is a map of the route from Falador the the fortress:
Inside the Fortress
First of all, wear your Iron Chainbody and Bronze Med Helm. Open the sturdy door on the southwest corner of the building. Now that you are inside, there is no further need to impersonate a guard so you may wear your normal armor.'Push' the wall directly in front of you to revel a secret room.
Climb up the ladder, then climb up the ladder you find on the next floor. You should now be on the second floor, however there are some boxes that block your way to the eastern half of the floor. There is a ladder heading down slightly to the east of you that you must then climb down. You will arrive in a room that looks like this:
Head up the ladder in the eastern room and you will find yourself on the second floor again, behind the obstructive boxes from earlier. Head down the nearby ladder.
This room is a safe-haven. The Black Knights can not get to you, and you can recharge your prayer. If you are low on Life Points you can wait here until some of your LP regenerates.
When you have recovered, exit the room using the door to the west. A Black Knight will be very hospitable and greet you with a fierce: "Die intruder!!!" And will attack you no matter what your level. You do not need to kill him, just run past and climb down the ladder. You will now be on the ground floor again, run along the corridor and Listen-at the Grill on the wall.
Your character will overhear the plan to give the Black Knights an invincibility potion. But do not fear, you can ruin everything! All you need is one small Cabbage...
Destroying the Potion
Head back to the entrance of the fortress. Try to enter the room to the east and a Fortress Guard will stop you.
Tell the guard that you will go in anyway. Now climb up the ladder in the northwest corner of the room.
Inside the room is a Hole, conveniently positioned directly overhead the witch's cauldron. Right-click the Cabbage in your inventory and use it with the Hole in the floor to drop it into the potion.
Warning: Be very careful that you right-click the Cabbage to use it with the hole, because if you do not right-click you will eat it!
The witch will realize that the potion has been ruined, and she will throw a fit. You will also confirm that the potion has been sabotaged.
Now you can leave and report back to Sir Amik Varze about your actions. To get out you can back-track to the entrance and walk to Falador, or you can homeport and walk there from Lumbridge.
Sir Amik is pleased with your work, and will reward you for your services.
Congratulations, quest complete!
